North and South [Poem]

North and South

Another old one, but I think it described the moment pretty well when it was relevant.

North And South

Soft sunlight
Sharp shards of ice
When something’s wrong
Don’t think twice
Leap at throats
Pull at hair

A moment.

Dandelion caress
Soft whisper of
Apologetic eyelashes
You’re poles apart.

An utterance of distaste
Is an elephant’s foot
coming down on day.

Change is impossible
You want perfection
And I am with
My cracks and discolouration
Response is always
Alienation.

When we displace
in full light
I find I am farther than you
and want to stop,
Water from going over the rocks.
